Guidelines we follow
We follow the HONcode, Health on the Net Foundation's ethical guidelines. HON has been named as 'winner of the eEurope Award for eHealth - 2004'.
How we comply with HONcode
Guideline 1: Authority
Any medical/health advice provided and hosted on this site will only be given by medically/health trained and qualified professionals unless a clear statement is made that a piece of advice offered is from a non-medically/health qualified individual or organization.
This site is designed and managed by a purely research oriented team. All our members are trained professionals in medical research, pharmaceutical research, and medical practice (refer to 'Mast head ' page), but we do not attempt to provide any medical advice whatsoever. We have accumulated important and relevant information with the aim to help families and children by empowering them with awareness of health, medical practice, and medical help. This will remove fears associated with the medical procedures and encourage people to be better informed and more responsible about their own health.
Guideline 2: Complimentarity
The information provided on this site is designed to support, not replace, the relationship that exists between a patient/site visitor and his/her existing physician.
We present information on this site purely from an educational point of view and are purely for information purpose only. Every page in the document has been provided with a bottom note clarifying this point. The 'Conditions for use page' also clearly mentions it.
Guideline 3: Confidentiality
Confidentiality of data relating to individual patients and visitors to a medical/health Web site, including their identity, is respected by this Web site. The Web site owners undertake to honor or exceed the legal requirements of medical/health information privacy that apply in the country and state where the Web site and mirror sites are located.
We treat our visitor's privacy and confidentiality with utmost care. To check our privacy policy and for which countries the site undertakes to honor or exceed the legal requirements for medical/health information privacy, please visit our 'Privacy policy' page.
Guideline 4: Attribution
Where appropriate, information contained on this site will be supported by clear references to source data and, where possible, have specific HTML links to that data. The date when a clinical page was last modified will be clearly displayed (e.g. at the bottom of the page).
The contents posted accompany the name of the individual who compiled the article and the date it was last updated. An indication of significant revisions to any specific content will be posted in the alert section and may include instructions to discard copies of versions previously printed or downloaded.
Reference material used to develop the content of any page is cited in a manner appropriate for the site's audience. The sources of all the relevant information provided in this website have been compiled in the Library 'Bibliography' page. We have added links to all the websites we have and do refer to for updating information, in the 'Links' page. These links can also be accessed from the library/resources in heath section. Also, wherever possible, we have included links to reliable websites for further information in that topic.
Guideline 5: Justifiability
Any claims relating to the benefits/performance of a specific treatment, commercial product or service will be supported by appropriate, balanced evidence.
Medhospital does not deal with any specific treatment or commercial product or service whatsoever. External linking is very carefully made with proper evaluation of the content and the source. However, linking to a site does not mean we approve of all the materials available in that site. We link to appreciate the creator and the information that is provided for that specific topic which the link has been provided for. Medhospital is not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources, and does not endorse or is not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, products, services, or other materials on or available from such sites or resources. Please refer to the 'Conditions for use' page.
Guideline 6: Transparency of authorship
The designers of this Web site will seek to provide information in the clearest possible manner and provide contact addresses for visitors that seek further information or support. The Webmaster will display his/her E-mail address clearly throughout the Web site.
In our role as a health awareness provider, we strive to provide health related information in the simplest and easiest accessible way. We have provided a feed back form with 'contact us' link in every page for ease of communication with the webmaster. We take the questions posed to us very seriously. We will answer your questions as soon as possible. If we are not having the answers with us, we will get it for you from other experts.
Guideline 7: Transparency of sponsorship
Support for this Web site will be clearly identified, including the identities of commercial and non-commercial organizations that have contributed funding, services or material to the site.
Medhospital is entirely a non-profit endeavor. The cost to maintain this site is borne by the webmaster. Medhospital does not receive any funding from advertisement. We have also included an Acknowledgement page regarding all the contributed materials from non-medhospital members for this site.
Guideline 8: Honesty in advertising and editorial policy
If advertising is a source of funding, it will be clearly stated. A brief description of the advertising policy adopted by the Web site owners will be displayed on the site. Advertising and other promotional material will be presented to viewers in a manner and context that facilitates differentiation between it and the original material created by the institution operating the site.
Medhospital does not host or receive funding from any kind of advertising, or promotional material.
