Blood pressure
Blood pressure is the pressure of blood flow in the arteries. There are two pressures measured:
Systolic: when the heart beats.
Diastolic: when the heart is at rest.
Blood pressure is measured in mm Hg. Under normal conditions, the systolic pressure is less than 120 mm Hg while diastolic pressure is less than 80 mm Hg.
High blood pressure or hypertension is defined as systolic pressure greater than 140 mm Hg or a diastolic pressure greater than 90 mm Hg.
Low blood pressure on the other hand shows lower readings than normal. |
