Bursitis
Bursitis is the swelling of the bursa (the padding in joints that allow smooth movement of joints).
Causes:
It happens with prolonged use of certain joints. It also happens due to prolonged and excessive pressure on the joints.
Diagnosis:
Mainly diagnosed by physical examination. However, x-rays are often performed to ensure no other problems are there to give similar symptoms.
Treatment:
- Rest and protect the area.
- Ice pack often helps.
- Anti-inflammatory medicines often help.
- Physical therapy
- Take breaks to give rest to joints.
- Cushion joints such as pads may help.
- If nothing helps surgical drainage of bursa also can be performed.
