Epididymitis
Inflammation or infection of the epididymis (structure of the tubules that transport sperm from the testicles).
Cause:
It happens due to trauma or infection.
Symptoms:
- Discomfort in the region of the testicle.
- The pain is often felt into the groin or the abdomen.
- Often swelling and firmness is felt.
Treatment:
Antibiotics and anti-inflammatories help. Often scrotal support is recommended. Cold therapy helps in acute cases.
Notes:
- The symptoms often go unnoticed. The best way to prevent a late mature stage is regular self examination of the testis.
- Diabetics are very prone to such type of infections.
