Insomnia
Not able to fall asleep at night in spite of being tired. Sometimes even you wake up in the middle of the night and not being able to go to sleep again. If this happens for a day or two it is nothing to worry, but if this continues for days or months this may be worrisome. In fact if you feel you have rested enough even after this, it is fine. It is not ok if you feel tired the whole day and the condition may need attention.
Symptoms:
- Feeling tired the whole day
- Unable to fall asleep and or disturbed sleep
Some of the major causes:
- Worry
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Depression
- May be due to side effects of medicines
Try the following:
- Sleep only as much as it is essential.
- Have regular sleep timing.
- Do more exercise
- Do not drink caffeine rich drinks and alcohol before sleep.
- Do not try to sleep till you are tired and the body does not remain active anymore.
- Too warm room or cold room may disturb sleep, change the place of sleep if required. It may help.
- At times sleeping pills are administered for a while to regularize sleep.
- Check with your doctor about the medication you have been taking, it could well be the cause if the condition persists for a very long time.
Note:
- If nothing of the above works take your doctor's help.
- Sometimes if you snore very loudly it may hamper your sleep. Ask for help, things can improve.
