Painful urination

It is due to the constriction (narrowing) of the urethra. This condition is also called urethral stricture. It is generally not seen in children.

Symptoms:

  • Slow flowing of urine without pressure
  • Painful urination
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Blood in urine
  • Abdominal pain
  • Discharge

Causes:

  • STDs
  • Trauma in the area
  • Tumors
  • Swelling

Diagnosis:

  • A cystoscopic examination
  • Treatment:
  • Urethra dilators help
  • Surgical procedures

Note:

  • If untreated can lead to kidney and bladder problems
  • The condition can re-occur after treatment
