Basics of Medhospital search

To enter a search query, just type some key descriptive words and hit the 'enter' key or click on the search button. If the search results in a very broad search, type in a few more selective words and narrow your search.

Concept based information

We have a search engine which in addition to searching key words, is also a somewhat concept based retrieval system. The search tries to match terms to concepts within the Medhospital website. It results in a bigger search result naturally. If you do not want that to happen, you can actually restrict your search only to specific key words supplied by selecting the 'Exact Match Search' option.

Search results

• Results are ranked by the number of matching words or concepts in the document compared to the number of words in the document. For example, if in a page of 100 words 3 keywords match, that page will be higher ranked compared to a page of 200 words but having 4 keywords matching.
• Results of pages having the same rank are alphabetically listed.
• It is recommended that you refine your 'key word(s)' search by choosing 'find' from the button bar and finding your keyword on whichever of the above pages you call rather than giving a very stringent search keywords in the beginning.

Your keywords

• Try to be as specific.
• Use words likely to appear on a site with the information you want.
• The order of the words do not effect the results.
• You can refine your 'key word(s)' search by choosing 'find' from the button bar and finding your keyword on whichever of the above pages you call.
• If you still do not get the page you are looking for, you can go to the site map and look into relevant links and then narrow your search.

Automatic exclusion of common words in queries

• By default the search returns pages that include all your search keywords.
• There is no need to add 'and' between words.
• Avoid putting on commas and other signs such as '+' between words.
• Common words such as how and when are excluded from the search.

Capitalization

• Medhospital searches are NOT case sensitive.

Word variation does effect

• We do not use stemming technology.
• We only search for the words requested and not related words. For example, do not use words such as 'caring', 'managing', or 'needs'. Search will not be done for 'care', 'manage/management', or 'need'. It is intelligent to use 'car', 'manag' or 'need without a s' instead to include all the kinds of variations of the root word.
