It is an operation which blocks the sperm from reaching the penis by blocking the tube (vas deferens) that carries new sperm from the testicles.

Some points to remember:

• A minor operation
• Safe and effective
• Does not prevent sexual intercourse or enjoyment
• It is in most cases irreversible. So the decision can be later regretted. Also, reversing surgery could be very technical, complicated, and often unsuccessful.

Note:

• It does not provide protection against STDs or AIDS.
