Acupuncture
Basics:
This art of healing is also based on the Chinese philosophy of Qi (Chi) and Yin and Yang. It is also based on the traditional art of diagnosis.
Qi flows in the body through channels called the meridians. The whole body can be mapped by these meridians. Along these meridians, there are regions or points which are the foci. All these points or foci can be used to stimulate or slow down the Qi flowing through it using pressure or needles. The art of healing by using needles to stimulate these pressure points is called acupuncture.
Note:
- Nei Jing (the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine) is the earliest (305-204 BC) book written on chinese medicine and acupuncture. It has two parts (The Su Wen dealing with basic medicine and the Qi philosophy, and The Ling Shu dealing with acupuncture and its practice).
- The knowledge and art of Chinese medicine and acupuncture has evolved through centuries, even before documented history. It is just too complex to know and understand beyond this without proper teaching and practicing.
